Welcome to the home website of the Old Bay Scribes.
The Old Bay Scribes is a writing group based out of Maryland, USA. Though our location is what initially united us, we have members around the entire USA and beyond.
Foundational Guidelines
Our community is founded on a set of guidelines designed to keep the community safe and welcoming for all. Members are expected to follow these guidelines when interacting within the community or representing the community to others.
- Be excellent to each other. There is a person with their own feelings, thoughts, and emotions on the other side of the conversation.
- Keep language appropriate for all ages. Our community is designed to be appropriate and welcoming towards people of all ages and backgrounds.
- This is a drama-free community. Instead of bickering, instigating, etc., turn that energy into motivation for your writing. If you do have an issue with another member, consider speaking with them calmly and privately, or pulling in a community moderator if an impartial third party is needed.
- Share the conversation. All members are encouraged to join in conversations and deserve to be heard. Remember to allow time for others to speak up and share.
- Protect Yourself. Most of our community interaction is online. For your own safety, be very mindful of what you share. Do not post personal identifying information (PII), such as your last name, address, family member names, medical history, phone number, etc. Members are encouraged to alert community moderators if they find someone sharing PII, so that moderators can remove the posted information.
